Megan Fitzpatrick not only wrote “Dutch Tool Chests”, but she also edited a lot of the books on this year's list. One dissertation away from a PhD in English literature it makes a lot of sense that Megan found woodworking through writing. Starting at Popular Woodworking Magazine Megan quickly became a savvy woodworker as well as writer and editor of woodworking material. Megan’s blog, Rude Mechanical Press is an amazing documentation of her restoration of a 1905 home in Cincinnati’s north side, along with some cats and Shakespear, two other things Megan is enamored with. Maybe one of the most prolific blog contributors to Fine Woodworking Magazine and also writing multiple articles its easy to tell Megan is rife with knowledge and is happy to share.

Teaching is another honed skill in Megans toolkit, DTC being one of her more popular classes she has recently linked up with the illustrious Chairmakers toolbox to provide a more inclusive entrance or building of skill to historically excluded makers. Hurry up and get your applications in because they are due by August 8th.

I also always loved this episode of Fine Woodworking’s Shop Talk Live where Megan was a guest, her break-neck fast humor and well thought out answers to problems make for perfect podcast consumption.

The meeting will take place tomorrow, Sunday August 3rd at 7:00 PM EST on discord. Even if you didn’t read the book or don’t plan on making a tool chest, I recommend you don’t miss a chance to hear Megan talk woodworking.
