This is a WWBC first; the author of April’s book will be guest moderating the meeting! When “The Why & How of Woodworking” was put on the list, I was excited at the idea that Mike could join in and talk about it with us, and even more so when he agreed. I recommend this book to everyone I meet starting their woodworking journey, primarily because of the person who wrote it. Mike touches all facets of the craft; as a furniture maker, teacher, and creative director, he has the experience and, with this book, gives a portion of all that knowledge and insight to everyone.

If you aren’t aware of Mike and all his work, I suggest checking out his website, specifically the philosophy section, where it seems interchangeable whether he is talking about his work or himself.

I would be remiss if I didn’t add this amazing 50th-anniversary version From the Editor, which is in the newest Fine Woodworking issue #317

If, after all this, you are still not convinced by Mike’s ability to share his experience in a palatable way, just listen to him solve problems on the fly, like Mission Control bringing a space shuttle back to Earth.

As always, the meeting will be held the first Sunday of every month this one is May 4th at 6:00 pm EST at the link below. See you then!
