“Make a Chair from a Tree” - Jennie Alexander.

Book three of this year so far is a great one. I wasn’t too familiar with “green woodworking” until i took a ladder back chair class in Vermont. The amount this book was referenced while building the chair over that week was countless, realizing how much this single text influenced chair makers put it at the top of my reading list. As I dive in the most appealing part so far is the ease Jennie breaks down complex wood science into digestible text that makes building one of these chairs attainable. The clarity of the step by step layout leaves no excuse’s to not build one. To quote Jennie herself “ I envision my reader as a married homemaker in Cincinnati, Ohio, who plans to learn chairmaking in one-half of the family’s two-car garage. I wrote this for her. So please bear with us.”

I would like to propose that if you have built a green wood chair, or plan on doing so, drop some photos in the discord. Share your experience, I would love to see the MACFAT channel become a thread of collaboration and inspiration.
Below is a link to Jennie’s website which has endless more information including shave horse plans and even the MACFAT video for the more visual learners,
