“HANDMADE, Creative Focus in the Age of Distraction.” - Gary Rogowski
Gary Rogowski’s second book, “Handmade, Creative Focus in the Age of Distraction,” is a guided meditation veiled behind a walk through Gary’s path to his career as a professional woodworker, teacher, and author. Inspired by formative books in his life like “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” (among so many other books mentioned, I might do a blog of a list of them to keep track), it re-ignited my urge to create and the fulfillment that goes along with true creativity that can be snuffed by the doldrums of social media and the constant distractions in modern life.
“Handmade” isn’t just a woodworking book; the way he translates his experiences in the wilderness of the PNW, it could just as easily be a Gary Paulsen title. His connection with nature is admirable and makes me want to get out into the woods, sit, and think. So I end it here, grabbing Fern (my dog) and heading into the wilderness.
